El-Rufai Reacts To Attack On Inauguration Guests
Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai
Malam Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna state, has condemned the attack on guests at his inauguration on May 29, Friday, in Kaduna.
During the ceremony Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, and El-Rufai were pelted with stones and other objects by some youths.
“Even in such instances, there can be no justification for any attempt to inflict embarrassment or cause disorder,” the governor stressed.
The Punch reports that El-Rufai, who spoke through his special assistant on media, Samuel Aruwan, called on the people of the state to support him and a new government. He promised to do his best to deliver good governance despite the difficult economic situation.

According to the former minister of the FCT, a component of change, which is the maxim of the All Progressives Congress, includes respect for institutions and commitment to lawful and peaceful means to express grievance, discontent or dissent.
In his statement El-Rufai expressed gratitude to the people of the state for the massive turnout at the event.

During his swearing-in by chief judge, Justice Tanimu Zailani, the governor of Kaduna state announced that he would cut his and his deputy‘s salaries.
“In recognition of the difficult challenges we face, our deputy governor and I have concluded that the sacrifices that change requires must begin with us.
“We have decided to take a pay cut and donate 50 percent of our salaries and allowances, until our fiscal situation improves,” he said.
